Le torri di fuoco (Towers of Fire)

Long, long ago, there existed within the confines of the Inner Sea an island rich, happy, and peaceful where the skies were crossed by strange creatures with large iridescent wings. Along the island's coasts were countless towers of fire created by a science so mysterious some defined it as magic. The island was protected by a weapon so powerful that its name alone was enough to make the enemy tremble, and was ruled with a firm hand by a woman, the Guardian, the title of which was transmitted from mother to daughter for generations. Their men plied the waters surrounding the island on ships driven by the sun, not the wind, and traded with the other lands overlooking the Inland Sea, and in each port they were greeted with awe and respect. The sovereigns of the Thirteen Realms eventually sent a spy to the Island to learn their secrets, and the lust for power corrupted the son of the Guardian, prompting him to betray his family and his land, thus setting in motion a series of disastrous events. Events that obliged his sister, the young Nuri, the reluctant heir to the title of Guardian, to accept her duty and the role assigned to her by fate.
